Glove Guide
Left Field:

An outfield ball glove will be much larger in overall length and size from infield models. The pocket will be large and deep, and the glove is usually worn completely over the hand. Open or closed webs can be used efficiently, with Trapeze type webs becoming very popular. Typically, sizes often used range from 12.5" to 12.75", but slightly smaller or larger may work.

Pro Players' Sizes/Models:

Josh Hamilton (LF) - 12.5" - A2000JH32
Jacoby Ellsbury (CF) - 12.75" - PROJR7
Ichiro Suziki (RF) - 12.75" - GGE70VBK
Center Field:

An outfield ball glove will be much larger in overall length and size from infield models. The pocket will be large and deep, and the glove is usually worn completely over the hand. Open or closed webs can be used efficiently, with Trapeze type webs becoming very popular. Typically, sizes often used range from 12.5" to 12.75", but slightly smaller or larger may work.

Pro Players' Sizes/Models:

Jacoby Ellsbury (CF) - 12.75" - PROJR7
Ichiro Suziki (RF) - 12.75" - GGE70VBK
Third Base:

Third Base will use a larger ball glove than those at second or short. Known as the "Hot Corner" a third baseman needs a bit of a larger glove to be able to handle and knock down those sharply hit balls in that direction. Third base gloves will have a deeper pocket than the middle infield, but not as deep as the outfield models. This will help with making sure to handle the ball correctly and accordingly there on the corner. Sizes will range from 11.75" to 12", and an open web design is usually most desirable.

Pro Player's Sizes/Models:

David Wright - 12" - A2KDW5
Adrian Beltre - 12" - PRONP5TLB
Chipper Jones - 11.75" - GCP53S
Short Stop:

There is quite a bit of ground to cover while guarding "the hole" at short. Because of this short stops will still prefer larger model than at second and usually still prefer a shallow style pocket to allow for quick pocket to hand transition. This is especially vital for fielding balls deep in the hole. You want to have a glove large enough to snag the ball, but still small enough to be able to maneuver quickly. Sizes can range quite a bit here, but typically you will find 11.5" to 11.75" but depending on preference can go up or down accordingly. Popular web styles will be the "I-web", Modified Trapeze, and Basket Web.

Pro Player's Sizes/Models:

Troy Tulowitzki - 11.5" - PROTT2
Derek Jeter - 11.5" - PRODJ2
Starlin Castro - 11.5" - A20001786
Second Base:

Second base will typically use the smallest glove on the diamond. Quick reactions for turning double plays and making diving snags require a smaller more controlled glove. A shallow, flat pocket is usually the most desirable and at times the glove may not be fully worn on the hand. Sizes can range from 11" to 11.75". Popular web styles will be the I-web, H-Web or Modified Trapeze styles.

Pro Player's Sizes/Models

Dustin Pedroia - 11.5" - A2000DP15
Brandon Phillips - 11.5" - A20001786
Rickie Weeks - 11.25" - A2000RW23
First Base:

Obviously, only one of two positions on the diamond that used a specialized mitt for its' position. The mitt is somewhat of a hybrid between a fielder's glove and a catcher's mitt. The design will not vary much, but the desired size and web can vary. Sizes will range from 12" to 12.75". Popular web designs will be the Single Post Web and Horizontal Bar Web.

Pro Player's Sizes/Models:

Albert Pujols - 12.75" - PROCMHCB2
Paul Konerko - 12.25" - A28001613
Adrian Gonzalez - 12.25" - PROFM20KB
Pitcher:

Pitcher's models will typically feature a deep pocket to allow for ample room to get the proper grip on the baseball. Usually, you will find a closed-type web to allow the grip of the pitch being used to be concealed. Sizes can range from 11.5" to 12.25", while 12" models being the most popular. Popular web designs will be the Basket Web, 2-Piece Closed Web, and the Modified Trapeze.

Pro Player's Sizes/Models:

C.J. Wilson - 12" - A2000CJW
Brian Wilson - 11.75" - A2000BW38
Justin Verlander - 12.25" - PROS22VHB
Catcher:

Obviously, this position used a specific type of mitt. The size and web style will be the main differences found from model to model. Some will prefer a smaller sized mitt to make quick moves from pocket to hand to allow for pick-off plays, while there are those who prefer a larger mitt for an overall bigger target area and a larger margin of error. Popular sizes will vary from 32.5" to 34" but can be found all the way up to 35" patterns. Typically, a closed-type web is most always preferred behind the plate. Popular web designs will be a 1-Piece closed or 2-Piece closed web.

Pro Player's Sizes/Models:

Yadier Molina - 32.5" - PROJP20MX
Matt Wieters - 34" - PROCM43JT
