Using the Catcher's Gear Fit Guide

Disclaimer: As with any fit guide or sizing chart, there is a margin of error. This guide is designed to provide an accurate assessment of the needed size for each individual piece.

  • Please note, the "fit" from one manufacturer to the next may differ
  • Age is not always indicative of the correct size needed, but more times than not is accurate
  • At times, sizes will overlap in the charts below. This can be due to the different manufacturers sizing. Be sure to size accordingly
  • Generally, catcher's gear designed for Tee Ball, Jr Youth, or Youth play are gender neutral as far as the fit is concerned

How to Determine Catcher's Helmet Size:

  • Place a measuring tape around your head, just above the ears where your hat would naturally rest
  • Take the total circumference (distance around) in inches and reference the chart below
    • This measurement will determine your "Fitted Hat Size" which is how catchers helmets are sized
    • For example, if you measured 22 ¾", then your fitted hat size is 7 ¼"
  • Each individual helmet's size range will be provided in the Item Description
  • Typically, there are two sizes of catchers helmets available:
    • Youth (Small)
      • Most Youth helmets are generally sized between: 6 1/8" - 7" (Individual sizes may vary)
    • Adult (Large)
      • Most Adult helmets are generally sized between: 7" - 7 3/4" (Individual sizes may vary)

My son loves it!

Upon receiving the gear at first look we thought it was too big for my son. He is 11 yrs old about 5'1 90 lbs. He tried it on as is and he was disappointed that it fit too big. After adjusting the latches on everything and trying it on again it fit perfectly. Good quality material. My son loves it! He will definitely grow with it!

Nice gear

I bought this gear for my 13 year old and he just loves the design and mizuno stuff in general. its top quality stuff all the way through. my only and biggest gripe is that Mizuno cathers stuff runs bigger....lots bigger. I got the intermediate size thinking it would fit him fairly well... well its more like adult gear, so atleast he will have it all the way through HS now, but just has to deal with it being baggy for now. The shin guards are 15.5 inches, when most intermediate gear from other companies runs more in the 14 to 15 range.
Pros
  • great look, good quality
Cons
  • sizing is off
